I work out of my home in Salt Lake City, unless I am traveling to another city. Shoots take about 15 minutes per child, but I allow wiggle room if needed. I prefer no styling, so these can remain as timeless as possible; so arrive with hair down, no make up or jewelry, and wearing timeless tops with classic details. I generally say ages 6 and younger can have bare shoulders. Five months old can be on their own, with a parent keeping them steady. Younger than that can be in a parents arms. My set up is for individuals, not groups. My images are black and white. Try to clean children’s faces before arriving so they’re not upset by having their face cleaned right before their sitting. Check closely around noses and eyes. And lastly, keep your own energy relaxed and positive so they’re not nervous something big is about to happen. My shoots are calm and peaceful and that’s the space we want to be in. Let’s make some portraits!
